Training

From basic obedience, gun and bird introductions all the way through steadiness, casting, and the trained retrieve, we would love to assist you in developing your hunting partner to its full potential! Starting with an assessment of your dog, it’s current age, and it’s development, we will recommend and place it in one of our training programs!

For more information, check out our programs below or contact us.

Foundations:

The foundation encompasses all breeds of dog and gives each dog a head start in the basics of obedience.

This focus is the basics; here, sit, stay, heel, “place” and “whoa” in the case of pointing breeds. Dogs over 5 months old can usually learn and understand what we are asking of them with this program in as little as 4 weeks. For many dogs, 6 weeks in this program is enough to gain a complete understanding with less handling homework for you.

This development and training is critical to continue to more advanced training and fully developing the ultimate canine. You can build a house without a foundation, but sooner or later it will fall apart. We want to see each dog develop into a well behaved, functioning member of the family and society through socialization, positive reinforcement, and structure.

Please contact us for price per month training.

As of now, we limit our training dogs to 8 per month to ensure each dog receives the time and attention they deserve. Please be sure to book training in advance to ensure we have time to work with you and your dog!

Gun Dog Development:

This is where we will develop your dog to its full potential using positive & negative reinforcement with the dog’s natural instincts to create successful situations in which each dog can thrive. These are a few of goals that each type of dog should achieve while in for gun dog development.

Flushers – Quartering within gun range in the field, collar conditioning to recall and sit (on cue and or flush), hunting dead, marking ability, and handling.

Pointers – Woah on cue, collar conditioning to recall, steadiness on point (wing, flush, shot, fall, or release), honoring another dog on point, marking ability, hunting dead, and handling.

Retrievers – Heel, collar conditioning to recall and sit on cue, place, handling in a blind, steadiness (at shot or release), honoring another dogs retrieve, trained retrieve, casting, and blind retrieves.

Together we will create a personalized training plan focused on the goals you wish to achieve with your dog. From basic obedience, gun and bird introductions all the way through steadiness, casting, and the trained retrieve, we would love to assist you in developing your hunting partner to its full potential!
